betteryourbrain asked: the big bang theory is for people who are beyond desperate to feel like they watch "intellectual" television and are, like, totally part of nerd culture. fuck that noise.
loitermiami asked: fuck the big bang theory
Anonymous asked: Why don't you think the Big Bang Theory is funny? It's pretty hilarious

Anonymous asked: I understand, but you should try to remember that the number one problem with dumb people is this: dumb people don't know they're dumb. You must remember what it felt like to be a high school policy kid. At my school, we don't have any kind of outside help and my coach only did policy in high school. I'm not saying to be overly nice, but sometimes reconsider the sharpness of...

Anonymous asked: Not even trying to be rude or anything, but you guys really should stop being rude when people ask questions. They're just trying to get help, but sometimes, you guys can be awful rude. Sometimes I agree with and laugh at the responses, but I think you guys need to occasionally realize the world isn't out to get you. :)

Anonymous asked: I could ask some dumb question about multi plank CPs, but I really just want you to post more multi plank pics.
Anonymous asked: omg judge nomenclature deduced. flow judges flow (the round), lay judges lay (there and moan "pppppufoooo")
Anonymous asked: Could I somehow claim that asking for the alt is abusive? Or should I ask FYKD about this sort of thingl?

Anonymous asked: is it true you have to read the plan text of a CP in the 1NC?
Anonymous asked: It's funny because Dallas Nan's team writes their own evidence and only win because of the completely shit judging pool on their circuit and lack of real adversity besides these great performance debaters and a few others. Factz

another camp experience
for those MO/KS/AR debaters mostly. I went to MSDI last year, it’s a really good experience. Yeah, there are better camps out there but this one is fairly cheap, and is super chill. The lab leaders are all profoundly intelligent and really helped me improve. The best part about the camp is the lectures, because I am a Missouri debater I don’t get flow tournaments very often, the...
Another random debate camp experience
I went to camp at Liberty (lol) for two years. It wasn’t as bad as you’d think considering where it was, though your lab leaders were hit and miss, you got some pretty good instruction. It’s an extremely cheap camp, which makes it a good choice if you’re in the VA/NC area, with 1-3 week choices. But yeah, if any of your followers live in the area, it was a good experience...
Anonymous asked: In regards to NYCDI (the camp w/ Ben and DB), I just wanted to put out there that the camp is non-residential and it's a 3 week, 7 days a week camp that starts at 9AM and ends at 9PM.

New York Debate Institute
This was such a small but power house camp. It was run by Ben Crossan, Daryl Burch and David Pettersan with the help of Alec Opperman and Hong Mei Pang. It was run more like a college class than a debte camp really. We spent a lot of time discussing our positions, writing narritives , reading books and just plain learning through observing life and telling stories. We also did a ton of debates...

More Camp Stories-UTNIF 2011 Session 1 (3 Weeks)
This was my first year going to a legit camp. I picked UTNIF over Cal because my partner/coach bullied me into it, but it turned out to be an incredible experience. I roomed with my partner and we shared a bathroom with two pretty awesome girls and there was lots of staying up late, watching Disney movies, blowing bubbles, ect. The labs were quite good; I was in middle lab and I definetely feel...
policyponiesandpunk asked: Eh. Moderate speed (or at least here in AZ), like 300-400 wpm. Also, I think Ks are cool for LD just because LD is a lot about the philosophy and the meta-arguments and a well-run K has some good philosophy coming off of the Alt.
brosero asked: policy arguments in ld- depends on your judge
friendlyneighborhoodblackman asked: i love your answers to ask questions too much. POST MORE MEMEZ
policyponiesandpunk asked: Hey, so I do LD, but I still love this blog because I love running Policy arguments. Is this okay with you guys?
Anonymous asked: What debate camp would you most recommend going to? and what is the price?
Anonymous asked: I am a novice, so I hope you don't think I am stupid. How do you answer to perms?
CAMP EXPIRIENCE TIME!
I too attend GDI for two weeks, and it was possibly the best time of my life. They have great food, a place to play sports, a kickball tournament, and girl’s volleyball, basketball, and soccer camps that happen at the same time. Oh, and debate. You also build a lot of friendships and stories. One time, this guy hid in my closet because he was trying to attack me for filling the dorm halls...
Anonymous asked: Do you know of Dallas Nan? He went to nationals this year in Texas. He's really good, so just wondering if you know of him!!

Gonzaga Debate Institute
well. as long as everyone is submitting their “camp experiences” I also went to the GDI in 2010, and without a doubt it’s an experience i will never forget. I was in the 2 week sophomores lab, having Scott Oderkirk and Doug Dennis as my lab leaders and they were terrific. at this camp you will meet the most awesome and diverse group of people that all have the same passion to...
landofzenith asked: When you said "Dallas Perkins", did you mean the Harvard "Dallas Perkins"? If so, this blog just got a hell of a lot better (not that it already wasn't.)

GDI
I went to GDI last summer. I can honestly say it was one of the best experiences of my life. I went for the 2 week varsity, and this year I’m going back (rising Junior) for Scholars 5 week. GDI has fantastic lecturers, labs, and lab leaders. It was a great mix of card cutting, lectures, and practice debates. The atmosphere of the camp was fantastic and all the people are great. I basically...
Anonymous asked: who runs fuck yeah k debate?
Anonymous asked: You don't absolutely *need* to go to a tier one camp to be a good debater; while a good debate camp lab certainly can help, at the end of the day, it really depends on YOU to make it happen. One of the best debaters I know went to WNDI, a relatively small debate camp, and he has three TOC bids this season already, whereas I know plenty of other debaters who went to "better" camps,...

probably my worst moment while cutting cards came when i almost cut a card from the post-modern generator
i thought it was legit
Anonymous asked: If you want to be competitive and qualify to the TOC next year, I strongly, strongly suggest you go to UMich 7 Weeks or DDI. These camps routinely turn out the best debaters on the circuit. If you're a rising junior, my suggestion is to get your coach to contact AKall/confer with other debaters or coaches to see if you have the record to get into DHeidt's lab at UMich. If you think you...
youresosquishy asked: I've attended CNDI and GDI and I recommend both, but GDI especially. I went to the four-week camp with my partner and it was a lot of research as well as practice debates. We came from a school with a very small team and no proper coach so it was really helpful and we ended up doing very well afterwards. Additionally, GDI was the perfect combination of work and fun because they set up a lot...
abundanceofkatherines asked: this past summer I attended Samford's camp. as an upcoming sophomore, it was most helpful. it was rigorous, yes, but so worth it. you receive the opportunity to work with several TOC and NDT qualifiers. this was the first year i was committed to debate alone and it was the best decision i've ever made. if you're in the south, specifically, the south-east, and a (semi)beginner, or...
